Vintage Garden Gatefold Card

snapshotsbyjennifer

My Simon Says Stamp Kit arrived Saturday and I couldn't wait to start creating. This was my first card with the August kit. I love the Picnic Floral embossing folder and decided to highlight it in this card. I used a blending brush to highlight the pretty flowers. The butterfly is one of two stamps in the kit. I finished the inside of my card with one of the other stamps.

Gatefold Card Snapshot

1. Card Base=8 ½” x 5 ½”

a. Score at 2 2/16” & fold the other side over to meet.

2. Add patterned paper ( or embossed paper) to the both sides on the front: 1 7/8” x 5 ¼” (adding something on the inside flaps is optional—but makes your card more interesting!). Pay attention to whether your final card will be vertical or horizontal when cutting your patterned paper. The center insert is the standard: 5 ¼” x 4”.

3. Next you can add a belly band or just have a punched or die cut image on the front.

a. Wrap around belly band: 1” x 10” with your seam in the front (it shouldn’t be snug; it should slide on/off easily).

b. Or just add a tag/punched image/die cut—don’t forget to emboss or stamp it to make it more interesting.
